We are the Democratic Executive Committee of
St. Johns County, Florida.
The St. Johns County Democratic Executive Committee (DEC) is the Democratic Party at the local, county level. It is composed of a Chair, 1st Vice Chair, 2nd Vice Chair, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, Treasurer and Deputy Treasurer as officers. In addition, there are a State Committeeman and State Committeewoman, who are the liaisons with the Florida Democratic Party and the local Democratic Clubs.
The elected members of the DEC are representatives of the various precincts in which they live. There are presently 46 precincts in St. Johns County. Each committee person takes an oath to support Democratic candidates before becoming a member.
Policies/Bylaws
The St. Johns County DEC reports to the Florida Democratic Party(FDP) and is subject to the By-Laws of that organization. In turn, the FDP is subject to the By-Laws of the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

DEC Subcommittees:
Candidate Support Committee
Work to identify potential candidates to run for Office in St Johns County including City and County Commissions, State Legislators, School Board, Local Commissions, US Congress. Meet with potential and declared candidates, provide information and resources about running for Office. Connect candidates with the Florida Democratic Party (FDP) and Contest Every Race. Help potential candidates identify appropriate offices.
DATA TEAM Committee
We are a team of tech-savvy professionals who use the Democratic Voter Database to create targeted campaigns. These campaigns are integrated into platforms like texting, phone banking, mailings, and canvassing lists. By leveraging these tools, we increase voter engagement and turnout, making a measurable impact in our community.
Diversity and Inclusion Committee
Work in conjunction with the Florida Democratic Party Affirmative Action Committee to further the goals of diversity, inclusion and equity within the Democratic Party both locally and Statewide.
Fundraising Committee
Work to identify people and resources to raise funds to support the activities of the St. Johns County Dems for campaigns, outreach and growth of the Democratic Party in St. Johns County. Plan fundraising events and activities.
Humanitarian Committee
A liaison group working with and supporting organizations that provide food, shelter and social services to those in need in our community. Coordinate events and activities with these partner organizations.
Legislative Affairs Committee
Work to identify and follow proposed County, State and Federal legislation. Contact legislators through phone calls, texting, email and Office visits. Lobby in Tallahassee. Plan events and activities to raise awareness of proposed legislation and issues of concern being imposed at the Local, State and Federal level.
School Board Committee
Be aware of what is going on at the School Board meetings. By being actively engaged, this committee raises the awareness to other members of the SJC Democratic Executive Committee of issues of concern being imposed on our Public Education system in St Johns County.
Voter Registration Committee
Work closely with the Florida Democratic Party (FDP) to register voters in St. Johns County. Work to build Democratic registration through tabling at events and Door to Door Canvassing. Encourage voters to enroll in Vote By Mail (VBM). To be part of this Committee you must receive specialized training.
Young Democrats Committee
Work to grow the participation of younger voters in St. Johns County to engage them in activities and support of Democratic values and activities in St. Johns County. To also work with the Florida Democratic Party (FDP) to build a more age diverse Party.
